8th ISK Africa Regional Conference: Climate resilient surveying for sustainable land and built environment

The 8th ISK Africa Regional Conference took place 16-17 November 2023 in Eldoret. The theme of the conference was “Climate Resilient Surveying for Sustainable Land and Built Environment.” This conference was organized by the Institution of Surveyors of Kenya (ISK), which is a land sector professionals’ organization made up of valuers, land surveyors, geomatic engineers, registered estate agents, property managers, building surveyors, land administration managers and facilities managers. The conference was sponsored by government institutions as well as by service providers from the private sector from related industries.

This annual conference brings together industry leaders in the land sector, as well as civil society organizations, the ISK membership, academia, representatives from development institutions and governments from all over Africa. It was attended by more than 200 participants from Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda and Zimbabwe.

The GLTN was invited by to present on ‘Natural Resource Management and Climate Change Mitigation’ giving a global perspective of innovative land tools for climate-resilient land administration.

Tenure security allows the land users to manage their land in a more sustainable manner, which contributes not only to reduction in land degradation and restoration of land, but also in climate mitigation and adaptation.
