The Conference is the premier forum for the land sector, bringing together participants from governments, development partners, civil society, academia, and the private sector to showcase research, discuss issues and good practice, and inform policy dialogue. Theme: “Securing Land Tenure and Access for Climate Action.”
The 2024 Conference aims to highlight effective strategies for securing land tenure and access in support of climate change mitigation and adaption. Four sub-themes: Securing Tenure for Sustainability; Land Technologies for Green Growth; Land Administration for Climate Action and Disaster Resilience; and, Land Administration Amid Rapid Urbanization.
With the theme: “Your World, Our World: Resilient Environment and Sustainable Resource Management for All”, the conference will focus on how geospatial technologies and innovations as well as connectivity become major tools in ensuring resilient environment and sustainable natural resource management for all.
The meeting will aim at consolidating the priorities and planning the work of the Arab Land Initiative, in accordance with the regional and countries priorities and with the activities to be conducted during the Phase 2 of the BMZ-funded Arab Land Programme.
This is an ILO-convened multistakeholder coalition whose partners convene annually, either remotely or in person, to discuss thematic issues, share best practices, and facilitate knowledge exchange. The meeting may have relevance to tenure security.
Topic: ‘Land governance and the politics of fair transitions: Deepening the search for social justice’.

The World Urban Forum (WUF) is the premier global conference on sustainable urbanization. The WUF12, convened by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), will take place in Cairo, Egypt.
This will be the first time in over 20 years, the forum is returning to the African continent, and it is the first time that it will be held in a megacity.

This third conference will be held in late 2024 or early 2025 at a venue to be decided. The first conference was held in 2018 (Dubai/UAE) and the second conference in 2021 (Cairo/Egypt). Awaiting final confirmation of hosts, dates and venue.
This summit will address gaps and recommit to the principles outlined in the 1995 Copenhagen Declaration on Social Development and Programme of Action and give momentum towards the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The conference will explore opportunity to raise the profile of land and property as sources of revenue and means for wealth redistribution.
The UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA), through its Financing for Sustainable Development Office, and the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) will support the Conference and its preparatory process.
