The Governing Council is an intergovernmental decision – making body for UN–Habitat. It meets biennially and reports to the GA through ECOSOC. The session is expected to approve the Strategic plan 2020-2015 and other key reforms of the organization. The Governing council session is also expected to act on any decisions by the 73rd General Assembly on governance reforms to strengthen Member States oversight of UN-Habitat.
