In collaboration with the UN-Habitat/ Global Land Tool Network (GLTN), the Union of Agricultural Workers Committees (UAWC), based in Ramallah, Palestine, implements an area of work focusing on the linkages between land tenure security and socio-economic development, especially regarding women, in the Arab region. As part of this partnership, UAWC undertakes three integrated key activities, including an empirical study, a regional Expert Group Meeting (EGM), and capacity building through trainings for women and other land actors on the importance of women’s rights to land. This partnership is part of the broader BMZ-funded ‘Arab Region Programme on Good Land Governance in Support to Inclusive Development, Peace and Stability’—a key programme of the Arab Land Initiative.
UAWC is organizing and holding an Expert Group Meeting (EGM) on 1st and 2nd February 2021 on the evidence-based linkages between access to land and socio-economic development and empowerment, especially for women, in the Arab region. The aim of this two-day online meeting is to bring together experts and key stakeholders of these topics, to exchange and share experiences and empirical evidence and to fill knowledge gaps. In doing so, the event will also provide an opportunity to connect experts and partners by way of promoting future collaboration and coordination.
The online meetings will be held on 1st and 2nd February from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM (EET/Jerusalem Time/GMT+2).
The event will be held in Arabic. Simultaneous translation in English and Arabic will be provided.
