It is in response to these challenges and towards the implementation of the Nairobi Action Plan, that the LPI has developed Guiding Principles on LSLBI so as to provide AU Member States and other actors how to establish LSLBI that are more likely to succeed in terms of
benefits for governments, local communities and investors. These Guiding Principles are African-owned. They were drafted and reviewed by teams of experts on land governance and agricultural investment in Africa before being finalised based on the outcomes of a multi-pronged consultation exercise with a wide range of constituencies and stakeholders involved with land governance in the Africa region.
