GLTN joined other pleased participants in sending congratulations to a “highly professional and productive team” that coordinated the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG) Working Week.
The event which attracted about 2000 participants from 50 countries focused on the theme: ‘Environment for Sustainability’.
Held in early May, the five-day experience featured a well-attended roundtable discussion with surveyors and dignitaries in which GLTN land tools were presented and partnerships forged. A successful training of trainers for young surveyors and other professionals on the Social Tenure Model (STDM) further allowed participants to gain hands-on experience in the use of Social Tenure Domain Model (STDM), a pro-poor land management and information tool.
UN-Habitat, GLTN and FIG also organized a special session on Participatory and Inclusive Land Readjustment (PiLAR). Many participants expressed interest in the tool and discussions were held with selected partners to engage further in the development and pilot-testing and knowledge sharing on PiLAR.
The Malaysian delegation invited the participants to organize the similar event during the XXV FIG Congress in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia16-21 June 2014.
