In January 2016, the UN-Habitat DRC programme through the support of GLTN, organized a 1-day workshop with public and private stakeholders in Goma. The purpose of the workshop was to discuss a way forward to address Community Participatory Land Use Planning (CPLUP). This was occasioned by an identified need to have a series of pilot experiences implemented within the Land Programme in Eastern DRC which is funded by DFID. The workshop resulted in a short term road map for Land Use Planning, with the identification of the « Plan d´Aménagement Foncier Participatif» as the most suitable tool. The pilots are expected to end in February 2016.

However, there is still a need to provide more details on the current context and processes on how such land use planning can be implemented on the basis of the specific objectives included in the Project Document.  GLTN has committed to support the country team to design the project document on Community Participatory Land Use Planning (CPLUP), to develop capacities of the UN-Habitat team and others stakeholders. This will also include the government, land administration officers, private sector, civil society and grassroots organizations. The report is in currently available in French.
